A new open call for a new perspective on contemporaneity. For its 2026 edition, The Others launches the Expanded Grounds Open Call, dedicated to installation-based and environmental practices. Starting from the theme Temporary Stopover: Forms of Permanence in a Space of Passage, the call invites participants to imagine new ways of inhabiting, traversing, and interpreting space, time, and the transformations of the present.
EXPANDED GROUNDS Large – Scale Works for a Space of Pause
EXPANDED GROUNDS is a new international open call dedicated to large-scale installations, environmental interventions, monumental paintings, sculptures, spatial devices, and multidisciplinary projects capable of transforming the exhibition space both perceptually and conceptually.
EXPANDED GROUNDS has been conceived as a temporary transformation of an urban infrastructure into a shared environment where art, architecture, and the public can mutually redefine their roles.
The open call invites proposals that engage with the concepts of movement, presence, temporary permanence, scale, urban landscape, infrastructure, community, waiting, and the transformation of public space. Rather than producing images to be observed, the selected works are expected to generate experiences to be traversed.
